China Plans to Ban ‘Bizzare Architecture’

It seems to authorities of China don’t like unusual buildings as much as tourist. China State Council’s latest directive proves that. Because China wants to prevent unusual architecture anymore.

According the announcement from, China’s State Council’s new urban planning ,Chinese state media announced that:

“Bizarre architecture that is not economical, functional, aesthetically pleasing or environmentally friendly will be forbidden, while construction techniques that generate less waste and use fewer resources, such as the use of prefabricated buildings, will be encouraged,”

As you know, one of the impressive things about China seeing interesting architecture examples in a city that gaining international fame with those examples from the CCTV headquarters, to Famen Temple.

Then Council added that “It projected that in 10 years, 30 percent of new buildings will be prefabricated” according to that statement and the state wants to express their need for buildings which are “economic, green and beautiful.”

It’s clear that government released new urban plan right after two months a conference which focused on  the country’s urbanization problem. In that conference, President Xi Jingping called out “no more weird architecture” and hoped to changes about some architecture examples likes shaped like cellphones. For this reason government hopes to changes this kind of buildings with “morally-inspiring architecture.”
