The passengers in England’s Glasgow Airport Departure terminal meet with the newest airport staff, a robot named GLAdys.
GLAdys is different than many other robots, it serves by singing and dancing to the passengers.
Its name was inspired by the international letters of the airport itself Glasgow = GLA and during the Christmas season, GLAdys is going to be at the airport singing Christmas corals, telling stories and amusing the passengers with its dancing figures.
The Design of the Robot
GLAdys’ outfit is a Santa outfit and it sings these Christmas songs: Coming to Town, Rocking Around the Christmas Tree and Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.
It was designed to introduce the passengers with the simplicity of the digital technology.
Operations director Mark Johnston said: “We’re always looking to improve the customer experience at Glasgow and this is a new and innovative way of introducing a bit of fun to the airport.
“GLAdys does a number of things; she can sing Christmas carols, she can tell stories for the kids and can also take selfies and send them to on to your email address, so it’s a bit of interactive fun before Christmas.”
Other than singing songs, GLAdys can tell kids stories and take selfies, even sends them via emails to the passengers if requested.
After the Christmas season, GLAdys is not going to be retired. The airport authorities aim to improve the Project and enable passengers to get more advantage of such interactive robots in certain airport and flight issues where necessary and possible.
