Japan Planning to Launch Driverless Taxi for 2020 Olympics

After Google’s self driving car and China’s successfully tested self driving  bus, self driving  vehicle efforts began rising.

Robot Taxi INC expressed they’re launching driverless taxi in order to foster technological innovation.

According to government released, The government will collaborate with social media and game company DeNA.Co for testing self driving taxis in the Fujisawa city. Also they will hire local resident for taking rides.

Japanese Government’s higher purpose is encouraging local technology companies like this high technology stuffs and join the race with carmakers like Uber Technologies.INC and Google INC. As you remember, Google’s self driving cars had trouble on the road before.

Parliamentary vice minister of the cabinet office Shinjiro Koizumi highlighted at Yakohama:

“We can’t stick to the way we do business here in Japan, which is to unite everyone in the industry and work together, The government should create a competitive environment and welcome everyone to participate.”

Robot Taxis operation aim will be helping of people with disabilities and elderly people and visitors of Japan as well. And creating more free life for people. If we consider the highest rate of elderly people living in Japan, we will understand clearly why  big car companies emphasize mobility of elderly people.
