According to the Nature magazine published last Wednesday, a scientific research shows that there is a planet resembling our earth with its structure. The new planet, named Proxima b, is orbiting within the Alpha Centauri – Proxima Centauri star system neighboring our solar system.

According to the explanations made this might be the most important scientific discovery ever. The planet, found by the scientists observing the solar system from European Southern Observatory concludes its turn around the star within 11 days, which is quite short compared to ours with 365 days. But still, this does not prove that habitability is not possible anyway.

On the other hand, Proxima b, like the Moon, has always one side of it as “night” and the other side as “day”.

NASA Astronomer Steve Howell talked about the discovery in an interview and stated that he would love this new planet to be like our world, have an atmosphere like the earth and liquid as well as living creatures.

However, the studies do not confirm yet that it is the twin of our planet.

Before announcing that Proxima b is habitable and like our world and earth, scientist have to research for answers like if there is an atmosphere, is it like Venus (too thick to live), does it have at least one for the beginning?

The coming years will allow us to hear about the answers too and NASA’s Kepler telescope already started to look for the right ones, do not worry.
