You can come across this little smart helper across 12 hotels in USA.
Relay has Wi-Fi and 3D cameras and sensors to navigate itself. And when the guests need something Relay call the elevator wirelessly then go to the room. Once Relay comes to the room calls the guest to met them at door.
According to manager of a Residence Inn on Century Boulevard in LA Relay calls as a Wally inside in the hotel. And he expressed some of the hotel guests call Wally to taking pictures on him to posting social media accounts. And Wally doesn’t take tips.
CEO of Savioke Steve Cousins expressed that:
“For decades, robots have been took complex, too expensive, and not safe enough to co-exist in human environments,
Through a combination of advances in robotics software, and the drop in costs for robotic hardware and components, those objections have disappeared.
The time has finally come when robots are going to be at our beck and call, and for our robots in the hospitality industry we mean that quite literally.”
Relay is a really exciting new for shaping hotel industry’s future and reaching millennial customers.
By the way Relay is not the first example of robot stuffs. Henna Hotel in Japan consists full of robot staffs.
