Amigdala’s creator Sonia Serpil Aslan is the only single artist from Turkey to join the most important exhibitions of the world, Art Expo New York 2016.
The artist drawing attention last December in Miami Art Fair, with her two-dimensional pattern works and impressive children statues, will be the only Turkish artist to represent Turkey in Art Expo in New York on 14-17 April.
‘MY GOAL IS TO REPRESENT TURKEY’
Sonia Serpil Aslan’s first solo exhibition opened in October 2014 when quite a few mentioned her work in numerous platforms and now she steps up as a female artist to represent the country, saying; ‘I’m proud to represent Turkey in the best way in such an important exhibition and show my art works to a wider audience.
‘PAINTING AND SCULPTURE ARE THE ARTIST’S INDISPENSABLES’
The artist will represent with 4 two-dimensional pattern works and 2 statues. She pronounces the fact; ‘painting, graphics, sculpture and drawing have a different place in my life. Painting and sculpture integrate with me personally. Drawing and sculpture are the sine qua non of an artist’.
